Software Developer (Full Stack) – Asset Health and Performance

Work Location: Perth – Fortescue's Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people

 

Roster: Monday to Friday 

 

Reporting to: Project Coordinator – Application Development

The key mission of this role will be to design, develop, maintain and deliver the software systems required to support and accelerate the delivery of asset maintenance systems and solutions in our mine to port supply chain. The right candidate will bring an understanding of the development and deployment of software to enable the transformation of operations-centric workflows using advanced decision-making techniques including AI/Machine Loading, along with a drive for delivering outcomes and working software from concept design through to value.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to diagnose performance issues and work to implement proactive and reactive fixes
  • Developing and evolving our front-end systems, including the appearance, functionality and use of different UI patterns including natural language and visual workflows
  • Developing and evolving back-end systems, including server-side applications and databases, as well as the APIs to support direct integration between different systems and tools
  • Maintaining high standards of software quality within the team by following good practices and habits
  • Participating in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers and receiving feedback on own code
  • Participate in agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives), and maintain good discipline in maintaining ticket status and associated documentation

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Background in computer science, software development or similar
  • Experience (3+ years) working in developer or software developer role, including back-end and front-end experience
  • Familiarity with common cloud and open-source platforms for back-end development (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes) and front-end development (TypeScript and React)
  • Proficiency in contemporary programming languages and frameworks, including C#, .NET, JavaScript and TypeScript, with demonstrated experience integrating services, APIs and run-time-critical components into enterprise applications. Experience in one or more modern front-end frameworks, particularly React or Vue.js, and familiarity with Node.js, ASP.NET Core, SQL, PostgreSQL and Snowflake.
  • Understanding and implementation experience of REST API and Webhooks, as well as the use of Git, Git Flow and Github Actions
  • Understanding and implementation experience of Code quality assurance, testing methodologies, and continuous integration/delivery (CI/CD)
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in agile development methodologies and scrum-type delivery teams.
  • Interest in the development of advanced operations decision-support systems using artificial intelligence, machine learning and combinatorial optimisation (beneficial)
