An opportunity has arisen for a Systems Engineer to join Fortescue Zero Racing!
About the role
Primary function:
Responsible for the configuration and calibration of the vehicle software and infrastructure at Race, Test and Rig events. Including for example - ECUs, Steering Wheel, telemetry system, and associated software. Monitoring and correction of sensor measurements to maintain a high level of data quality.
Secondary functions:
Preparation of looms and sensors using motorsport standard connectors and wiring systems.
Support rig testing operations across our development environments where appropriate.
Provide feedback and assist in the development of tools to aid and improve the Systems Engineering function.
What you will do
- Current in the relevant FZ HV training to ensure safe operation around electric vehicles, and take responsibility to ensure vehicle working environment is compliant with these procedures.
- Ensure the electrical hardware and sensors are available in a timely manner for the assembly of the vehicle.
- Work with the Electrical team leader & Software Developers to ensure any new test requirements are properly integrated into the harness and vehicle software.
- Follow the event preparation tasks detailed in the latest Systems Event Preparation Technical Bulletin and OneNote event job list which will include items such as:
- Prepare the System Monitor project with the correct software and logging configuration for the event.
- Prepare the ADS and associated data processing tools for the event in line with the event checklist.
- Perform Safety and Systems check including a ‘box run’ on the vehicle.
- Ensure the offloaded event data is correctly detailed and copied to the network.
- Ensure faults are logged and followed up and any faulty items are correctly labelled and documented in line with current company procedures.
- Ensure the technical Bulletins and jobs list relevant to the role are maintained and updated.
About you
A relevant degree or equivalent qualification having worked and gained a good level of experience with the following technologies:
- Experienced in the use of McLaren Atlas and System Monitor software tools.
- Knowledge of communication mechanisms, such as CAN, EtherCat, RS232.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs.
- Self-motivation and the ability to complete tasks with minimal guidance, and to work under pressure to meet critical deadlines.
- A creative and proactive approach to problem-solving, along with good attention to detail.
- Flexible attitude to working hours.
- To follow and actively enforce the company’s health and Safety and HV policies.
