Work Location: Perth Office – Fortescue's Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people. 

 

Roster: 5 days / 2 off / 4 days / 3 off Site and Perth alternative weeks

 

Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Technical Coordinator to lead and support our Autonomy Operations team. Reporting to the Superintendent AHS Engineering, you will coordinate a team of Autonomy Specialists to safely deliver reliable autonomous mining technology across our operations. This role is responsible for driving technical excellence, supporting project delivery, fostering a strong safety culture and working closely with internal stakeholders and technology partners to achieve operational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and promote a strong safety culture across autonomy operations and technical teams.
  • Coordinate and mentor a team of Autonomy Specialists to achieve operational and project objectives.
  • Deliver safe, reliable and sustainable performance of autonomy systems and technologies.
  • Work closely with project teams to plan, schedule and deliver technical work programs.
  • Manage resources effectively to support operational priorities and project milestones.
  • Build strong relationships with site operations, engineering teams and external technology partners.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives through reliability analysis and problem solving.
  • Contribute to the achievement of operational budgets through effective resource planning.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety, mining and operational standards.
  • Drive collaboration across stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Minimum trade qualification in mechanical, electrical or network disciplines, or a tertiary engineering qualification.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within mining, technology or large mobile fleet environments.
  • Experience leading technical teams in maintenance, deployment or reliability-focused operations.
  • Strong planning, scheduling and resource management capability.
  • Experience developing and promoting a positive safety leadership culture.
  • Working knowledge of mining legislation, safety management systems and operational risk management.
  • Understanding of reliability engineering principles, root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications and SAP work management systems.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Formal leadership training and relevant statutory supervisory qualifications are highly regarded.
