Our Opportunity

 

Work Location: Perth - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.

 

Roster: Monday to Friday

 

Join Fortescue as a Tenements Advisor and play an important role in supporting our mining operations and future growth. Working alongside an experienced and collaborative team, you'll provide specialist tenement and land tenure support across a diverse portfolio of mining projects and studies.

 

In this role, you'll help ensure compliance with statutory, contractual and internal governance requirements while supporting mine planning activities, managing tenement obligations, maintaining land access and agreement records, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our tenement management systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for matters related to tenements in support of mining projects and studies.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with the Western Australia Mining Act and associated regulations.
  • Provide guidance and advice on tenement management, including applications, renewals, and compliance requirements.
  • Undertake tenement portfolio assessment, identifying opportunities for optimisation and risk mitigation.
  • Monitor and coordinate responses to objections, facilitate effective communication and collaboration to ensure timely resolution of tenement matters, and oversee compliance with associated deed obligations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, government agencies, and legal counsel to resolve tenement-related issues effectively.
  • Prepare reports, documentation, and presentations on tenement-related matters for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience supporting mining projects, studies, or operational activities through the provision of tenure advice and information.
  • Experience managing tenement-related obligations, agreements, and compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to maintain accurate records and manage document control systems.
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mining), Geology, Law, or a related discipline advantageous, as is equivalent industry experience 
  • Knowledge of the Western Australia Mining Act and associated regulations.
  • Proven track record of successful tenement applications, renewals, and compliance management.
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver high-quality results within deadlines.
